JEFREY SILER
Austin ,TX based songwriter Jefrey Siler has been aptly described as “a Texan Lou Reed” by author Derek Sivers.
With one foot in the storytelling 'discipline' of the folk scene and the other in the “art-y side” of rock, his new album Jefinitely is the follow up to 'Yellow Means Infection!' an album that the late poet David Berman of Silver Jews/Purple Mtns called "one of the best albums I heard this year."
Jefinitely makes sense of a painful decade, all told through Siler’s obtuse sense of humor reminiscent of Jonathan Richman's pure honesty delivered in the baritone of Bill Callahan.

AUSTIN based songwriter Jefrey Siler has been aptly described as a "Texan Lou Reed" by Author Derek Sivers. With one foot firmly in the storytelling discipline of the folk world and the other in the "arty side" of rock, his new album Jefinitely makes sense of a painful decade, all told thru the lens of his southern, obtuse sense of humor, reminiscent of the gentle candor of John Prine with the baritone of Bill Callahan.
Produced & mixed by Yuuki Matthews of The Shins & Sufjan Stevens, Siler is backed by friends who are band members of Andrew Bird, Cass McCombs and Buck Meek. And while it only took 2 days in Brooklyn to record it, it took 5 years to wrap his head around how to write it.
It is a collection of songs that delves candidly into personal and emotional challenges, from Imago therapy to the loss of his mother, all delivered through the objective lens that only time provides.
Features the duet "Let Somebody In" withclose friend Lenny Lynch from Habibi (KRS) and former tour mate David Bazan of Pedro the Lion on "Wounded In Similar Ways," the album closer "Granted," is a piano based apology, accompanied by long-time collaborator Jay Gonzalez of the Drive-By Truckers.
Bridging intellect and heart, Jefinitely strikes a chord with discerning listeners, balancing the weird with the sincere, or haven't you heard?
"Yellow Means Infection' was one of the best CD's I heard this year. I wanted to let you know"
“The spare expanse of lyrics casting duel images show off a songwriters mind in simpatico with his surroundings letting songs bloom with resonance”
